Roses, thistles, leeks and shamrock representing England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland were hand embroidered onto the Queen’s coronation dress. I have also used the same plant and flower emblems of the Commonwealth countries in the borders, as appeared on the invitations and programmes used at the coronation in 1953.
